It is odd driving through the desert into San Diego. Before you enter San Diego, you have to climb this enormous mountain. About every half mile up the mountain there are areas where you can pull off the road and add coolant if your car happens to overheat.

The unbearable heat in the desert, then the tumultuous climb up the mountain! Why would anyone go to all that trouble? Why not just stay in the desert and except your fate?

The beauty is unimaginable. The weather is amazing. The scenery is breathtaking. Once you cross the desert and climb the mountain, you experience life anew as you speed freely down into the lush valley of cool breezes and moist air. The reason you flee the desert and trek up the mountain is to truly live life on the other side.

There have been several times throughout my time in San Diego, when I have felt like my church planting efforts were desert like. I have thought about pulling off on the shoulder and calling it quits or moving on to a smaller hill. The problem is that I have seen the other side. I know what awaits if I do not grow weary of doing good.

I tell my boys that there are plenty of people who do bad, but only a few people do good. I will continue on my journey of church planting and doing good deed for Jesus, if you promise to continue the journey that God has marked for you.

I would love to hear about your journey.
